	Follow manufacturers instructions when installing smoke detectors.
	Place a smoke detector in each room and hallway of the house.
	Do not place smoke detectors in the kitchen, bathroom, unfinished attic or false alarms.
	Test each smoke detector monthly and change batteries in all smoke detectors at least once a year

Show older children a fire escape route and teach them how to help younger children exit the house.
