cribs and matresses

	Cribs made before September 1, 1986 are not safe. Check the manufacture date printed on the crib.
	Ensure slats are no wider than 2 1/2 inches (6 cm). If you can slide a pop can through the slats, the crib is unsafe.
	Ensure mattresses fit snugly so there are no spaces where a child’s head or limbs can get caught.

toys

	Ensure toys are age-specific and follow these guidelines closely. If a child is too young for a toy, it could cause injury.
	Toys that have a diameter of 1 1/2 inches or smaller pose a choking hazard for a child.
